Salt Mine - Zipaquira - Colombia

I am still in Colombia and loving it!!! Here is an image I took in the Salt Mines in Zipaquira, Colombia. The two "ghosts" are making me want to go back and photograph again!!! We'll see. It's a beautiful place so it won't be a problem. I'll be back in Cali soon!!!

Bogota, Colombia

A lot has happened since my last post. Most important, the fact that I moved back to my homeland of Bogota, Colombia. It is not a permanent move but I couldn't be more excited to be back home. Mateo and Kodi (my dogs) came with me and I am thrilled to be with my family. I wish that somehow I could tele transport myself from Bogota to California everyday but I guess at least I can live vicariously through my images. Speaking of images, this one is taken off the balcony of the place I am staying here in Bogota and it a view of the city at night.

Horses on the Trail

Did I tell you I had 4 entries to the festival? Well, I've only shown you two. So here is another one. I am actually very proud of this one because I was driving through the Silverado Trail and I didn't really want to take the same picture as everyone else. You see, the subject was to take images of the Mustards in bloom and so instead of taking it of just the flowers I decided there should be another subject in there. So I saw the horse on the right and had to stop (in the middle of the Trail I must add) and take a picture of him (her?). So I get out of my car and I couldn't believe it, there were TWO horses grazing! Very exciting!!! So how did I get them to look at me for the picture? Well, I guess photographing any animal is the same because I just started to make random noises and they look right at me!!!

My Award/Honorable Mention Images

Since I think it's very important to constantly make my photography better, I usually enter 1-2 Photo Contests monthly. It keeps me out there photographing and my technical skills just keep getting better and better. At the moment, I am actually preparing 2 images for a contest. I am very excited about them and I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will received at least an honorable mention or better yet an award!!! The pictures you see are some of those images I have entered and have either won an award or have received an honorable mention. They are pretty self-explanatory but the one on the right is an exploding blender (yes it was a MESS to take but worth it) and the other one is of the Taj Mahal in India!

As always here is my website so you can check out more of my work: http://www.vivianaperaltaphotography.com/

Napa Valley Mustard Festival

This was another one of my submissions. I was driving through Highway 29 and this was taken near St. Helena, CA. I love driving on Hwy 29 because you can see all the vineyards along the way. You always hear about the Napa Valley and the wine industry but it's a totally different experience actually being here. I love stopping at Taylor's Refresher in St. Helena because according to one of the travel channels (I can't remember which one) they have the #2 best hamburger in the country!  I don't know if I believe that but I love stopping there anyway. Their shakes are to die for and they have free water which is always great after a full day of photographing the beautiful landscapes!!!

Napa Valley Mustard Festival Stamp!

I recently entered the Mustard Festival Photo Contest. This image was one of my submissions. I was driving through Yountville, CA when I saw wonderful green house surrounded by Mustard Flowers (they bloom every Spring in the Napa Valley). I think this is a vegetable garden the French Laundry uses for some of their food. For those of you who don't know, the French Laundry is one of the best restaurants in the world. My brother says it has 3 stars or diamonds and that is supposed to be fantastic. He is the chef of the family so he would know. I also submitted three more images and I am very excited about them. I'll let you know the outcome of the contest!!!
